UK’s Quantum Leap in Navigation Technology – Infleqtion

May 13th 2024

In a groundbreaking milestone for British innovation, Infleqtion, based in Oxford Centre for Innovation, proudly announces the successful launch of Britain’s first quantum navigation flight. This remarkable achievement marks a pivotal moment in the UK’s journey towards bolstering its resilience against hostile actors, as highlighted by recent reports from GOV.UK, The Times, and The Telegraph.

Infleqtion, a quantum technology firm, in collaboration with aerospace companies BAE Systems and QinetiQ, completed the trials at MoD Boscombe Down in Wiltshire, with Science Minister Andrew Griffith aboard the final test flight on Thursday 9 May.

The advent of quantum technology has heralded a new era of innovation, offering unparalleled possibilities in fields previously deemed impervious to advancement. Leveraging this transformative potential, Infleqtion, nestled within the dynamic ecosystem of the Oxford Centre for Innovation, has spearheaded the development of an unhackable navigational system poised to revolutionise the aerospace industry.

The recent successful test flight of Britain’s first quantum navigation system not only demonstrates the ingenuity of our scientific community but also underscores the nation’s commitment to maintaining technological supremacy in an ever-evolving landscape. By harnessing the principles of quantum mechanics, this pioneering technology promises to render traditional forms of navigation obsolete, offering unparalleled precision and security against malicious interference.

Building owners of Oxford Centre for Innovation, The Oxford Trust and managing agent Oxford Innovation Space, take immense pride in fostering an environment conducive to groundbreaking research and development. Our collaboration with Infleqtion exemplifies the transformative power of interdisciplinary partnerships, where cutting-edge expertise converges to address complex challenges with innovative solutions.

The successful launch of Britain’s first quantum navigation flight of unjamming quantum technology from Infleqtion represents a strategic asset in safeguarding critical infrastructure and bolstering the UK’s defences against emerging threats in an increasingly digitalised world.
